This week’s Rotary meeting featured two guest speakers.
Our first speaker was introduced by Brad Womack.  Ms. Laurie Harrison, a teacher at Kleberg Elementary School, presented on the Back Pack Project.  The Back Pack Project provides $65 worth of non perishable food for 25 needy children who attend Kleberg Elementary.  Ms. Harrison single handedly manages the program including fundraising, purchasing the food items, packaging the Backpacks, and distributing them.  The program is funded through private donations.  She would like to expand the program to help more students. Ms. Harrison touched everyone’s heart with her passion and commitment to helping needy children in our community.  At the end of the meeting, the ticket drawing winners donated their winnings of $140 to the Back Pack Project. -- True Service above Self.
